The farm on the outskirts of Milan, where our passion is behind everything we do.
“I like to seek out genuine flavours and tradition.
When I used to drive my tractor as a boy I didn’t know what I would end up doing, but in doing it I ended up as a producer and processor, turning the fruits of my land into tasty, high-quality products.
It was an adventure which began by chance, simply following my country heart, which loves this land and appreciates good food.
A family story
The farmhouse L’Agricola was built in 1937 by an engineer named Bormioli (manager of the famous company Isotta Franceschini of Saronno), and between 1942 and 1947 was lived in and managed by the Spertini family.
In 1946 the Costa brothers and their families from Vicenza moved in, running the farm as sharecroppers, up until 1950 when another pair of families from the Veneto region, the Santacatterinas (Pietro and Pio), took over on an agricultural lease.
In 1959 Pio Santacatterina left the farm to Pietro (father of the current owner), who continued running it, growing cereals and raising dairy cattle.
In 1980, Aldo Santacatterina took over running the farm, and thanks to his great passion for the farming life, he began to make the farm’s milk into cheese.
On 16 November 1983, direct sale of the farm’s products began, in partnership with the Cascina del Poggio di Pravettoni farm, a beef cattle breeder.
In 1995 the L’Agricola farmhouse was renovated, and since 2008 it has been somewhere you can spend every day in, with its restaurant, coffee/gelato ice cream bar, hamburger bar, shop, and of course on the farm itself.
